๐ How to Set Up Call Forwarding
Whether you have a classic landline, IP-based telephony, iPhone, or Android โ you can set up automatic call forwarding in just a few steps. Here you will find all common methods clearly explained, including examples.
1. Classic Landline Connection (Analog or ISDN)
With a normal analog or ISDN landline connection, setup is done using so-called service codes โ these are key codes that you simply enter on your phone.
โ Activate Immediate Call Forwarding
- This means: All calls are forwarded directly to the target number.
Code to activate:
*21*TargetNumber#
e.g., *21*03012345678# โ All calls are immediately forwarded to the Berlin number 030 12345678.
Code to deactivate:
#21#
๐ Other Variants:
Type of Forwarding | Activate | Deactivate |
---|---|---|
When busy | *67*TargetNumber# | #67# |
When no answer (e.g., after 20 seconds) | *61*TargetNumber# | #61# |
Delete all forwardings | โ | ##002# |
Notes
- Usually works with Telekom, Vodafone, 1&1, O2, etc.
- The target number can be a landline or mobile number.
- Country code (e.g., +49 or 0049) is usually not necessary.
2. IP-Based Connection / Router Telephony (e.g., Fritzbox)
If your phone runs through a router like a Fritzbox, you can set up call forwarding directly in the router's web interface โ convenient and flexible.
โ How to set up forwarding in the Fritzbox:
- Open your browser and enter http://fritz.box in the address bar.
- Log in (router password required).
- Navigate to Telephony > Call Handling > Call Diversion.
- Click on "New Call Diversion"
- Select: Type (e.g., "all calls" or "when busy"), Enter target number, Scope (all calls, only specific numbers, etc.)
- Save โ done!
๐ง Extra Tip
3. iPhone (iOS)
Call forwarding can be easily activated in the iPhone menu (only applies to classic call forwarding โ no app necessary).
โ Here's how it works:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Phone > Call Forwarding.
- Turn on Call Forwarding.
- Enter the desired target number (e.g., 015112345678).
- Done โ forwarding is active.
Notes
- Only works if your mobile provider supports this function (usually no problem with Telekom, Vodafone, O2, etc.).
4. Android Smartphone
Forwarding can also be set directly in the phone app on Android devices โ slightly different depending on the manufacturer.
โ How to set it up (Standard Android):
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the three dots (top right) > Settings.
- Go to Calling accounts / Call forwarding.
- Select your SIM provider.
- Select the type of forwarding: "Always forward", "When busy", "When unanswered", "When unreachable"
- Enter the desired target number.
- Save โ done!
Notes
- Depending on the device (Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi), the path may vary slightly, but the basic function is available everywhere.
